Whale Watching

  • Take to the high seas on an adventurous whale watching expedition and be on the lookout for one of the hundreds of Grey Whales during their migration along the Pacific Coast.   • Every year the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, better known as FIDM to fashionistas, puts on an exhibit of costumes from Academy Award-winning and nominated films from the previous year.   • Why tiptoe through the tulips when you can run wild through a rainbow blooming Ranunculus? Everywhere you turn, trot, tramp or traverse there is color, dazzling color, at the world’s only working Ranunculus farm. It serves as a backdrop for family-friendly activities and events, from open-air wagon rides through the field to a stroll through the fragrant sweet pea maze.     Knott’s Boysenberry Festival
    Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park
  • Nothing can compare to the wonderful boysenberry – a berry that Walter Knott created. Come celebrate this berry delicious fruit during Knott’s Berry Farm’s annual Boysenberry Festival, a food-inspired gathering that toasts the park’s historic {berry} roots. There will be 75 new and returning boysenberry creations plus entertainment, live music and berriment for all taste buds and ages.     The Swallows’ Day Parade

  • Steeped in tradition, the much anticipated Swallows’ Day Parade and Mercado is part of the larger Festival of the Swallows, when the swallows return to the Mission San Juan Capistrano on St. Joseph’s Day on March 19th. After the parade, everyone heads to the Swallows’ Day Mercado for a street fair and market place to eat, drink and shop from more than 100 vendors.     Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
  • It’s the roar at the shore as the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach takes to the streets of The LBC. Enjoy the thrill of it all with events, exhibits and pro-am racing with the big race taking place on Sunday, April 15. This is the final year the Celebrity Race event will be held.     Fallbrook Avocado Festival
  • The town of Fallbrook in San Diego County pays homage to the avocado at its annual festival that celebrates the town’s agricultural history. Go green with culinary demonstrations and enjoy fresh-made guacamole, avocado ice cream (it exists!), and see who wins for the best decorated avocado. There’s also the AVO 500 Children’s car race.     Newport Beach Film Festival
  • Three-hundred films, 40 countries, 55,000 attendees and eight days – Hollywood, eat your heart out! Newport Beach is the backdrop for this annual film festival showcasing several premieres, galas and yacht parties for a singular festival experience. Films are shown throughout, which boasts one of the largest movie consumer groups in the world as well as a rich filmmaking history. Lots of premieres, parties and red carpets to walk (strolling along the sand is another option!). Location: Newport Beach

  • Fans of the Woodie will be in their element as more than 200 classic wooden cars and surf wagons go on display at Doheny State Beach. Presented by the world’s largest Woodie organization, the Southern California Woodie Club, there’s lots to see and do as you walk up and down near the shoreline admiring these classic cars. Check out the raffle and local food offerings, too.

    Floral Park Home and Garden Tour
  • Named “Neighborhood of the Year” by Neighborhoods USA, the burb known as Floral Park in Santa Ana will fling open its doors and garden gates to the public. On display are a collection of vintage homes that date back to the 1920s and are now part of a recognized historic district. Wander through quaint French Norman and English Tudor-inspired cottages as well as Spanish Colonial villas and stately Italianate homes. It’s like stepping back in time. Location: Santa Ana
