    Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, Newport Beach
  • The drive-ins may all have been demolished, but you can still enjoy a movie outdoors at the Newport Dunes annual movie weekends, starting at dusk. Bring the kids, kick back on the dunes, and enjoy such family favorites and new releases, such as Moana, to classics like the Sandlot. Be sure to bring some blankets, lawn chairs, a jacket (it gets chilly near the water) and a few bucks to buy some popcorn at the concession stand. Location: Newport Beach

    A Taste of Greece
    St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, Irvine CA
  • Who doesn’t like gyros, baklava, or stuffed grape leaves? Better yet, who doesn’t like to enjoy these Greek specialties at one, fun-filled location? Spend an entire weekend at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church enjoying cooking demonstrations, learning Greek folk dances, shopping for gifts from Greek vendors, and enjoying wine at the pop-up “taverna.” Kids will enjoy the full-size carnival experience, too.     Sawdust Festival
    Sawdust Art Festival Grounds, Laguna Beach
  • Celebrating more than half a century of local arts and crafts, the Sawdust Festival features the works from Laguna Beach-only artists. Enjoy the mix of fine and funky arts and crafts, hand-blown and fused glass, painting, jewelry, surf art, ceramics, clothing and textiles, photography and more. Food vendors and live entertainment, too, plus lots of sawdust (hence the name) to traipse over. Location: Laguna Beach

    Seal Beach Summer Concert Series

  • It’s the ultimate endless summer. Well, at least at the Seal Beach Pier where a weekly concert series gets underway every Wednesday evening at 6pm. Bring a sand chair and picnic hamper full of goodies (or stop by one of the restaurants along Main Street) or take advantage of the food trucks. Is a sand-in-your-toes, wind in your hair, and wine in your glass kind of evening. Location: Seal Beach

    Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade and Fireworks
    Huntington Beach Pier, Huntington Beach CA
  • The City of Huntington Beach is celebrating its 114th (yes, that’s not a typo!) 4th of July Celebration with Burt Ward serving as Grand Marshall for this year’s parade. The largest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi River features entries including bands, floats, local dignitaries, equestrian groups, film and television celebrities and community groups. After the parade, be sure to stick around and watch an amazing fireworks show, taking place over Huntington Beach’s iconic pier. Location: Huntington Beach Pier

    San Juan Capistrano 4th of July Celebration
    The Sports Park, San Juan Capistrano
  • Get your red, white, and blue on at SJC’s annual Independence Day Celebration featuring rides and bouncy houses for the kids with food and a beer garden for mom and dad.     City of Fullerton July 4th Festival
  • Fullerton High School, where Patricia Ryan (better known as First Lady Nixon) attended school, will have a free Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks show, with festivities starting at 5pm. This long-standing community event is free to attend and includes live music, roaming entertainment, food booths, and activities for all ages, with a special aerial fireworks show, starting at 9:00pm. Location: Fullerton High School Stadium

    Pageant of the Masters
    Pageant of the Masters, Laguna Beach
  • Since the early 1930s people have flocked to Laguna Beach to view the colorful art events that take place in the summer. The Festival hosts a juried exhibit of fine, strictly original works by some 160 gifted talents complemented by the Pageant itself featuring a spectacular production of living art recreations. It makes you ponder the question: Does art imitate life or vice versa? Location: Laguna Canyon

  • It’s a party for a good cause—to help fund cancer research—and it’s held on the back lot of Paramount Studios. Celebrating its 44th year, the Concern Foundation has held one of the biggest bashes in Hollywood, and guests can graze along the land of make-believe enjoying some 63 food and beverage stations from celebrity chefs to landmark dives, such as Pink’s Hot Dogs.   • The 28th Annual Taste of Yorba Linda will be Friday, July 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 11:00 pm at the Yorba Linda Community Center. This Food, Wine and Beer Event will have over 70 restaurants from all over North Orange County, a variety of wines from California and craft beers from Orange County breweries. The eateries, breweries and shops will offer tastes from their specialties. There will also be live music, a silent auction and raffle. Proceeds from the raffle go towards scholarships to seniors from the local high schools. Location: YL Community Center

    Vans U.S. Open of Surfing

  • The skate shoe company, Vans, is putting its name on this well-attended and beloved event that attracts surfers and, yes, ho-dads, to the shores of Huntington Beach. Channel your inner-surfer at Surf City USA and watch the action taking place atop the waves as well as on dry land. It’s a non-stop party near the foot of the iconic pier with a pro/am skateboard competition, live music, food, fun and surfers at every turn. Location: Huntington Beach Pier
