  • Why tiptoe through the tulips when you can run wild through a rainbow blooming Ranunculus? Everywhere you turn, trot, tramp or traverse there is color, dazzling color, at the world’s only working Ranunculus farm. It serves as a backdrop for family-friendly activities and events, from open-air wagon rides through the field to a stroll through the fragrant sweet pea maze.   • Explore your inner-bookworm at this event that celebrates the tatted cover as well as an array of authors and genres. Attend one of the speakers’ series, take notes at a cooking demo, bring the kids to meet well-known children’s book authors and make an entire day of it.   • Want to show off your green thumb? Or, perhaps, your thumb needs a little more greening. Either way, the Green Scene at the Fullerton Arboretum is the ideal place for gardeners of skills to be inspired by new ideas, be motivated to clear out that weed-choked garden, or create an outdoor habitat just in time for summer.   • Take a sideways trip through Santa Barbara’s Wine Country to celebrate the 36th Annual Vintners Festival. This year the toast-worthy event takes place in the beautiful River View Park in Buellton. Meet the vintners, taste stellar wines, trying pairing local vintages with fabulous foods with fabulous food. Return the next day, and hit the wine trail on your own!     Newport Beach Film Festival
  • Three-hundred fifty films, 40 countries, 55,000 attendees and eight days – Hollywood, eat your heart out! Newport Beach is the backdrop for this annual film festival showcasing several premieres, galas and yacht parties for a singular festival experience. Films are shown throughout, which boasts one of the largest movie consumer groups in the world as well as a rich filmmaking history. Lots of premieres, parties and red carpets to walk (strolling along the sand is another option!). Location: Newport Beach

  • Get ready to set sail—figuratively speaking, of course,–at this family-fun launch party. Wish racers a fond farewell and celebrate the world’s largest international boat race with a full day of live music, nautical displays, art exhibits, chalk art, children’s boat building and more.   • Fans of the Woodie will be in their element as more than 200 classic wooden cars and surf wagons go on display at Doheny State Beach. Presented by the world’s largest Woodie organization, the Southern California Woodie Club, there’s lots to see and do as you walk up and down near the shoreline admiring these classic cars. Check out the raffle and local food offerings, too.

    Floral Park Home and Garden Tour
  • Named “Neighborhood of the Year” by Neighborhoods USA, the burb known as Floral Park in Santa Ana will fling open its doors and garden gates to the public. On display are a collection of vintage homes that date back to the 1920s and are now part of a recognized historic district. Wander through quaint French Norman and English Tudor-inspired cottages as well as Spanish Colonial villas and stately Italianate homes. It’s like stepping back in time. Location: Santa Ana
